The vast majority of evangelical Christians exist in an extremely shallow spiritual condition. The Church worship they experience is man-focused. The sermons they hear from the pulpit are specifically designed to offend no one. There is little if any mention of sin, the need for repentance or Biblical discipleship. Their shepherds are guilty of being more concerned with numbers rather than the health of the flock. To these ministers, size matters. The larger the better, therefore, they preach vanilla, seeker-sensitive, feel good sermons that attract those who have no use for what the Bible says about sin and its consequences. They design their Sunday morning worship service to entertain the goats rather than to feed the sheep. The flock's Bible knowledge is rudimentary at best.
God loves those who are His. If His sheep will turn their hearts back to Him in humility and repentance He will draw near to them. He will do a wonderful work in those hearts. He will lead His obedient and humble servants through the maturing processes which will grow them spiritually. His goal is for each Christian to be conformed to the image of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. This radical spiritual renewal will require the believer to learn to walk in the Spirit. He or She must learn how to use the full armor of God to withstand the attacks of the enemy. God's desire for His children is that they abide in Christ because only by abiding in Him can they live for His glory.
