Rooted in traditional watercolor and schooled in design, Susan Reynolds took a detour in 1980 when she began work on a mixed media series which won awards in exhibit & resulted in a solo show. Since then she went on to run a gallery, have work in permanent collections throughout North America and Europe and see her most important work, her four children, become adults.
The Restonian Magazine says of her work: "Reynolds employs a set of techniques whereby she converts simple elements of color, texture and shape into complex pressure paintings that give abstract expression to natural forms and processes."
Whatever the project, from series of one inch faux postage stamp design to 3 dimensional shadowbox pieces which double as pins, Susan brings to each the same bold use of color, refined sense of fluidity and strong design sense that is apparent in her mixed media paintings and prints.
Artist and author Gloria Page says of a series of artistamps Susan designed for her “I am so inspired by you . . . never had anything so cool as your artistamps! I LOVE all the colors you chose and they look totally smashing together - you are a genius, you know that, right?"
Images from her collections have made their way to give a beautiful face to such everyday objects as mouse-pads, wearables and note cards, some available from her online art and gift gallery.
Susan writes on subjects ranging from arts education to combining a home-based business with the business of life and provides design consultation to individuals and businesses.
And of course she'd never fail to make available a newsletter to bring updates and new developments about Reynolds' latest designs and art pieces to email boxes on a regular basis.
