Who Shall We Vote For?
I'm afraid I don't have much faith in any of the candidates. Rock and a hard place...

Someone, and I can't remember who, recently sent an email to me about Bush's so-called infamous speech, in which he made a biblical faux pas, courtesy of his speechwriter and hid/her lack of familiarity with the good book.

I am sure many of you out there in the cyber world has had this message sent to you or told to you in some manner. I have even received other emails stating that this did not happen. Regardless of whether or not it is true, I harbor my own fears and doubts about our potential next President. I don't think I want to be "lead" by any of them and so to express my disdain and inner turmoil on the subject of voting, I took the time to reprint the email sent to me and below that, express my genuine concerns about the entire issue.
The email is as follows:

The Lord has a way of revealing those of us who really know him, and
those that don't!!! Think about it!

Bush gave a big speech last week about how his faith is so "important" to
him. In this attempt to convince the American people that we should
consider him for president, he announced that his favorite Bible verse is
John 16:3.

Of course the speechwriter meant John 3:16, but nobody in the Bush camp
was familiar enough with scripture to catch the error. And do you know
what John 16:3 says? John 16:3 says; "And they will do this because they
have not known the Father nor Me."

The Holy Spirit works in strange ways. Pass it on.

PLEASE, VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!
Mrs. Jennifer Barnes, M.Ed

Hmmmm....

Where do I begin? I honestly can not tell you whether or not this email is the ring of truth or simply internet junk mail. Whether its true or not, I have no intention of voting for Bush or Kerry because I don't trust either of them. And as for Al Sharpton running for president, well then that just has to be a joke. Maybe Al is a leader and role model for "some" black people, but I'm one black sistah he's not leading anywhere.
Not to mention, after Bush's big cheating scam the last time, I'm beginning to wonder just how much our vote means? How much does it count? Is it democracy or democracy in theory? Bullshit me not, I've had it with the choices and maybe I should choose not to choose. But then, if I don't and someone I really despise gets in office, how much of that will be weighed upon my choice not to vote?
Rock and a hard place. Our ancestors went through so much for the right to vote and I want to represent that struggle. I want to do the right thing, but how can I vote when my heart or my faith isn't in any of the candidates. I don't want any of them leading me or our people. If I could put Jesus on the ballot, He would be the only one I would feel contentment in my heart to vote for.
