####MAKE YOUR MANICURE LAST - NAIL CARE TIPS & ADVICE####
*****Five Ways to Make Your Manicure Last:
1. Make sure your nail is very clean before applying polish. Natural oils, lotion or a piece of cotton fiber will cause polish to peel. Strip nails clean by gently swabbing them with nail polish remover.
2. Always use a base coat and top coat. It's tempting to skip them if you're in a rush. However, it's not worth it if your polish chips sooner. Base coats acts as a preserver for your nail - top coats are a protectant for polish.
3. Let each coat dry a couple of minutes before applying another - This allows polish to set so the next layer can adhere.
4. Wear gloves when you work in water or dirt (dishes or gardening).
5. Don't use your nails as tools. Focus on using the pads of your fingers, not the tips, when you reach, hold & type.

*****Challenge - BRITTLE, RIDGED NAILS:
Brittle nails are thirsty nails. Water makes up about 18 percent of healthy nails, so when dry weather, nail products, cleaning agents or dehydration cause the moisture level to drop, nails become brittle and can easily break or chip. To preserve moisture, wear gloves in cold or dry weather, and use a nail polish remover without acetone or high levels of alcohol. To rehydrate nails, We recommend applying a half-teaspoon of cream five times daily to nails.
Nail ridges—whether they run north-to-south or east-to-west—can also throw off a manicure. Vertical ridges are a sign of aging, and are to nails what wrinkles are to skin. You can’t prevent them, but you can smooth them out by buffing. Be careful to buff as little as possible, so that the nail doesn’t become too thin.
Horizontal ridges develop when the nail bed—the area where the nail grows—is damaged. The most common cause is picking at cuticles or pushing them back too aggressively. So treat cuticles with great care and make sure your manicurist is gentle, since the only way to get rid of horizontal ridges is to grow them out.

*****Challenge - YELLOW NAILS:
Wearing dark nail polish, especially without a protective base coat underneath, will eventually stain nails, leaving them with a yellowish tint. Base coat will help, but better yet, let nails breathe free once in a while. We recommend that you remove old polish the night before getting a manicure so that nails get the oxygen they need to stay healthy.
We also suggests alternating polishes. Wear a dark color one week, then a lighter shade that’s less likely to stain the next. Another trick to help prevent yellow nails is to use a hand cream that contains an alpha hydroxy acid. Alpha hydroxy acid products will facilitate exfoliation to rid hands and nails of dead cells.
