####GOT A BAD HAIRCUT? EXPERT TIPS & ADVICE####

***Received a bad haircut - need to grow out hair fast:

Hair grows about one half inch a month. Unfortunately, there is virtually nothing you can do to make your hair grow faster. There is no magic pill you can take or shampoo you can use to change that. But you can make the growing out process less of a bother.

First and foremost, you should cut the longer layers as short as possible. Bringing the bottom up will lessen the drastic difference between the layers and make your hair much easier to style. And your layers will now be even with the rest of your hair in much less time.

Styling techniques can help even out your look. Distribute styling gel or mousse within the hair around your face, and dry your hair on a low speed, brushing it back from your face as it dries. Don't use a high speed setting, which will dry your hair too quickly and make it flat, accentuating the multilayered effect you are trying to avoid.

We also recommend that you experiment with hair clips, barrettes and headbands. Pulling your hair off your face can be flattering, and a stylish way to get through this growing-out phase. Patience is the key to growing out your length!

***Keeping Colored Hair Healthy:

All hair dyes fade, whether permanent or not. The culprits are oxidation (unavoidable), chlorinated tap water and the sun, so your first line of defense is to cover up. (Products that contain sunscreen can help a bit, but they're not enough.) Use a gentle shampoo, then condition as much as possible without making your hair go limp -- permanent and some semi-permanent dyes cause at least a little cuticle damage, and some cause a lot. If you've colored your hair so much that it's seriously damaged, see the section on damaged hair. Between colorings, shampoos that contain a colorant can help freshen up your look.

Considering the fact that the hair at your roots is newer and thus stronger than the more chemically-abused hair at the ends, you should apply and focus your shampooing/scalp massage at the roots to midshaft of your locks. Then as you rinse, your ends will briefly, but effectively, be cleansed by the shampoo, though with less damaging effects.

Our Recommendation - Oasis Chem-Safe Shampoo - Shampoo & conditioner in one bottle for 'color-treated' or 'permanently waved' hair, please go to:
