Are Internet pharmacies legal?

Of course they are! Every pharmacy, (whether it operates Online or it operates in a supermarket) is legal as long as they comply with state and federal guidelines regarding controlled medications. Regulations apply to every industry and every profession.

Doctors, retail walk – in pharmacies, lawyers, sporting goods dealers, clothing stores, supermarkets and every other product or service business have state and federal guidelines that regulate the operations of their industries and professions.

Provided a pharmacy operates within the established regulations, not only is it legal - it plays a valued role in providing consumers and the insurance industry with cost saving alternatives.

As you read this message, giants in the retail industry including Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, Planet Rx, Rite – Aid, Drugstore.com and many others have already entered the industry in a big way because they see well the tremendous profitability and the huge shift that is taking place in how people order medications.

Alliances of all types and sizes are coming together in our industry. For instance, AOL has aligned with two different online pharmacies in order to cash in on the Rx market. All of the other major ISPs are involved directly or indirectly with online Rx and why not? It’s a fantastic benefit to consumers and the insurance companies that pay for medications.

Simple guidelines.

To operate any pharmacy, and prescription fulfillment business ( be it online or a traditional walk in retail pharmacy) the following guidelines apply:

* for “controlled” medications:
* Physicians approval.
* Permission from the primary care physician is required via written prescription and is verified prior to fulfilling the order. This is most often accomplished through a visit to the treating physician’s office, who will then verify the prescription after the customer orders it from our Rx.

** Our network offers a very unique customer service that insures compliance with controlled medication guidelines too.

If the customer (patient) does not have a primary care physician, or the customer can’t get an appointment in a timely manner, s/he can arrange for an exam through our Rx affiliated physicians. Our affiliated network of physicians will either arrange an office exam, or a house call exam! Yes, we do house calls – just like in the old days when doctors came to patients home. Our network of physicians covers all of North America so no matter where the patient lives, an exam can be arranged.

Licensed and registered

The pharmacies that warehouse, process and ship controlled medications, and the physicians who examine patients and issue prescriptions must be licensed with the appropriate state boards. Of course, our network of participating pharmacies are licensed.

“Uncontrolled medications”

Uncontrolled medications are those medications listed by the FDA and DEA as not requiring a personal exam prior to issuance of a prescription because they do not pose the level of potential side effects that can occur with “controlled” medications.

In the case of “un” controlled medications, a licensed physician may issue a prescription upon review of the patient history with or without an exam. However, just to insure the safety and integrity of the program you and we participate I, our network still contacts the treating physician on these orders even though it is not required. So there you have it.

In closing, remember that we are here to answer any questions or provide assistance in anyway possible. We welcome your call or email and look forward to hearing from you.
