Positive Thinking written by: Kimberly Mahoney
In these times of our fast paced society, it is easy to get frustrated, lose sight of what's really important, and lose our faith, hope, and overall knowledge that life doesn't have to be so hard.

Everyday living is stressful enough, then you add nagging bosses, cranky co-workers, scheduled appointments, waiting in line at the grocery store, and people that got there driver's liscence out of a cracker jack box. Everything in today's society is so fast paced, it's no wonder people get lost in the shuffle. Positive thinking is not at the top of the list for most people, but it should be. Consider this- you know those days when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, and everything you do, everything you say, ect just seems to go right down the toliet? Well my friend what I call this it is that old stinkin thinkin creeping in. It makes perfect sense if you actually stop and think about it. I mean why wouldn't your day go badly with the attitude that your life suck's, and thinking no matter what you do there are always those people that are out to get you. Here is a little tid bit of advice--YOU HAVE CONTROL OVER HOW YOUR DAY GOES!!! Yes that's right, you are in the driver's seat. Let me pass on something I learned from a very wise women, her name is Deb. I was having a hard time and spending way to much of my day on that old pity pot, when she sat me down and we had a little chat, ( actually she talked and I listened) anyways she is a very wise women and she asked me- Kim what do you have control over? As I sat there looking at her I said " I have control over my kids" and she said "no you don't" She said you dont have control over your kid's or anything else. At first I was somewhat offended, it sounded like she was telling me I was out of control and I didn't know how to take care of my kid's, not the case. Deb went on to say " now listen, You don't have control over your kid's because they are individual's with a mind of their own, and we as parents can only hope that we instill good value's into our children and raise them right so they will have enough RESPECT to listen when we tell them something. She then said " Kim you don't have control over the people out in the world, you could be driving down the street and get hit by a drunk driver and your life would end, you can't control anything or anybody at anytime, but there is one thing, and only one thing that you can control, would you like to know what that is? You can control the way you let things effect you. That's it. Sounds to simple I know, but I have learned that she was right. Now in certain cases of extreme cicumstances, this doesn't apply but for general everyday living I believe it does. Now when I wake up in the morning, before I even get out of bed I tell myself It's going to be a good day, I am going to be in a good mood, I will take things with a grain of salt, and I am thankful to be alive today. This is called positive self talk. It may sound corny to some of you but I am living proof that this actually works. I am one of those people that used to wake up fighting mad every morning, and now because of my positive thinking everyday I am in control of my feelings and for the most part I am in a good mood everyday. This takes some practice. I remember when I first started this I felt really stupid, but as time went on it just became a natural, everyday part of my routine, and I am a much happy person now, and my family is grateful about this I know. I urge everyone to give this a try. It doesn't happen over night, so just stick with it, and I guarentee that you will start feeling much better, and you will notice the change in yourself. You may take this article with a grain of salt, and choose to try it or not to. It has worked for me, and I have passed this on to my children, my husband, and my family. Family get togethers are much more pleasant now--ha ha. Also I have a reading that I wanted to share with you, and I hope you like it as much as I do.

Have Positive Thoughts, and Always "Hang in There"

Difficulties arise in the lives of us all. What is most important is dealing with the hard times, coping with the changes, and getting through to the other side where the sun is still shining just for you.

It takes a strong person to deal with tough times and difficult choices. But you are a strong person. It takes courage. But you possess the inner courage to see you through. It takes being an active participant in your life. But you are in the driver's seat, and you can determine the direction you want to go in.

Hang in there... and take care to see that you don't lose sight of the one thing that is constant, beautiful, and true: Everything will be fine-- and it will turn out that way because of the special kind of person you are.

So... beginning today and lasting a lifetime through-- hang in there, and don't be afraid to feel like the morning sun is shinning... just for you.

I would like to thank all of you that have viewed my article. It means so much to me to be able to share all the positive things that I have learned along the way.
