Everyone, no matter how much faith they have or how good a person they are will face disappointments throughout their life. It may be something like not getting that job or promotion that you really hoped for. Maybe you did not qualify for a house you really wanted. Or, it may be something more serious like the death of someone that you were close with, or some kind of illness in your body.

Whatever it may be, the reality is that we are all going to suffer some setbacks. But I believe one of the main keys to overcoming disappointments is to truly let go of them. Because staying disappointed will weigh you down and hold you back! God has given you all power and authority to overcome every obstacle you face in life. This is His Christian gift to each of us.

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past." Isaiah 43:18, (NIV).

Never get complacent and settle where you are. If you truly feel "stuck", you may want to examine what you are holding on to from the past or in the present. Do you need to forgive yourself, or forgive others? Do you need to receive Gods forgiveness? Be willing let go by choosing to forgive yourself and others, then also ask God for forgiveness too. Who hurt you? Who wronged you? What situations in the past do you feel that did not go how you wished it would? What situations in the present are overwhelming you? Release them all to God!

God is truly working behind the scenes in your life today. No matter what you may be facing, no matter what trial you may have faced in the past, God has a plan to turn things around in your favor. Always remember that at this very moment He is working out a plan for your good. Right now, He is orchestrating the right people to come across your path. He is orchestrating the right opportunities to open up to you. You may not see it, but have faith on His goodness in your life, knowing that He rewards the people who truly seek Him.

(Romans 8:28) tells us, "We know that God will work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose."

As a Christian you truly have everything you need to live a victorious life. Not just an average life, not just a barely-get-by mediocre life, because you were created to excel. You have the seeds of greatness on the inside. You may not have seen it in the past, or see it in the present, but if you will stay in faith, it is truly just a matter of time till victory is on the way!

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." (Psalm 23:6, NKJ).

The secret of overcoming disappointments the Christian way is to make the choice today to forgive yourself and others. Let go of the past, and the things that overwhelm you in the present, so that you can experience the bright future God has in store for you. There truly is mercy and forgiveness for any mistake we will ever make. Ask our Heavenly Father to search your heart and mind today. Ask God to reveal areas that you are holding on to from the past. Ask Him for help to see yourself the way He sees you. Then pray for His forgiveness so that you can extend forgiveness to others, and start moving forward in His plan for you!
