Crocheting has become my passion, second to living for Jesus. I crocheted my very first article when I was in grade school - my grandmother, by whom I was raised, showed me how to single crochet and I made a potholder with worsted weight yarn and a fairly large sized hook. Then I never crocheted again until I was 45 years old and was living and working in a destination RV park in Central Florida. It was actually starting from scratch. Fortunately, for me, I had a neighbor who had been a long-time crocheter and could help me when I got stuck. So I can say I have only been crocheting for 25 years (now you know how old I am).
My articles are usually made with the type of yarn the pattern calls for, but there are times I must use something different, as I have a very large stock of yarn (much to the dismay of my husband). I save all of my leftovers and crochet baby blankets for missions. I am sure that a child in Asia, Haiti, Mexico or South America, would rather have a variety of color and/or design in a blanket to keep warm with, rather than a perfectly matched design. So many children are without blankets with which to keep warm in Mexico - many of mine have gone there through various churches whose members go on mission trips. Those scraps are also good for "scrap afghans" or for granny square projects.
I have a great site on the internet to buy yarn for those who are looking for good prices on yarn - go to: www.smileysyarns.com and you will be surprised. Happy crocheting, or even better yet, please check out my web site and pass the word to your friends. I have some business cards which I have printed off on my new Canon MP370 Printer/Scanner/Copier and would be more than happy to send some to you if you wanted to pass them around to your friends.
I spend a lot of time on the computer searching for crochet sites. If you have a special site that you think is great, I would be happy to hear from you.
I will have more jewelry to put on my site when I get time to do that. We moved from Keizer, Oregon to Lynden, Washington a year ago and then moved two buildings over from where we were just the middle of February. We have a garage full of "stuff" to go through before we can park the car in the garage. It kind of goes "out of sight - out of mind", so never get around to working on it. Would rather sit and work on my passion - Crocheting.
My project at the moment is working on a Sweater, Cap, Booties and Blanket for a "miracle adoption" that is occuring in my step-daughters home. What a story behind this event. My other step-daughter is the one who commissioned this project, although I would have made something that would have come from me, anyway.
I also have a vast library of crochet leaflets, books, magazines and whatever. If you need a particular pattern, I would be happy to look for it for you.
