Is colon cleansing really safe? The short answer is yes. Let’s look at the long answer so we can see why this is the case and why some people do not agree.

When you undergo a colon cleansing procedure water is introduced to your colon and this process is meant to flush out any old fecal matter and toxins that can be present in your stomach.

If you decide to go to a colon hydrotherapy clinic you can actually see your toxins and old stuff come out, because they use a tube so they can see what is coming out. That way they can explain what is happening and why.

The the difference between colon hydrotherapy and normal enemas is that in colon hydrotherapy they use machines which introduce water to your colon and then pull it back out, the volume of water used is many times larger than in an enema.

When you do an enema you often only do it once before you eliminate or go to the toilet. The amount of water that usually fits in your stomach is anywhere from 0.5-2 liters, it can be more and it can be less depending on your body.

Colon cleansing in some form has been around since the Egyptians talked about the benefits of colon cleansing in 1500 B.C.

Doctors in the west are usually not too happy about colon cleansing because they are not sure how to approach it. It is still a new science for them, even though it has been around for such a long time.

Dr.Oz was on Oprah recently and he said that colon cleansing is not really necessary if you eat a healthy diet with enough fiber, water and physical exercise.

And I would tend to agree with this, I have had good success just eating healthy but I have also had a boost using colon cleansers and they really helped my bowels start acting normally again.

Here’s a list of the most common colon cleansing methods:

1. Colon Hydrotherapy/Irrigation
2. Herbal Colon Cleansers
3. Natural Organic Foods, Fruits and Vegetables
4. Regular Enemas

In all cases you should be in contact with someone experienced who can guide you through your first experience.

If you go to a clinic they will have much more comfort and safety than if you do it at home your first time.

The downside of a clinic is that it is a bit more expensive and it might take some getting used to having people being close to your rectum, but that passes when you see your health improving.

A common fear with colon cleansing is the fear of pain and that is completely normal. You should talk about it before you go through the procedure.

If the staff is competent they will calm you down considerably by explaining the process to you.

So don’t worry. I urge you to do more research on the subject if you feel unsure or even call one of the clinics and talk to them.

If the procedure is done properly there is usually no pain at all, just the feeling of weirdness and awkwardness that can be present the first time.

Stay Healthy!
