Getting Repeat Traffic and Building Traffic!

By Andrea Taylor

Getting people to visit your web site again and again is a must for a web site owner. One way that I employ is a mailing list. I offer people who visit my web site an opportunity to join my mailing list. If they choose to do so they leave me their e-mail address. Then when I make changes to my web site, or add a new product or service, I e-mail them with a message. This type of list is called an in-opt list or in-house list. My list is completely voluntary and people must enter their own e-mail address. They can unsubscribe whenever they want to.

Another list you can build, can be an in-house list for your very own newsletter! You would invite people to join your free newsletter on whatever topic your web site is about. In your newsletter you provide them with helpful information related to your web site topic and mention any new happenings at your web site. You can also ad paid ads to your newsletter for added revenue if you like.

To help build traffic, exchanging links with other web sites can be a great way of getting extra traffic for your web site. Many people surfing the Internet link on to other web sites from the site they were just on. When your link is on other web sites, the chance of someone being interested enough in your link subject and clicking on to your site increases.

To start a reciprocal link program, first you must set up a link on your home page that could say something like: "Click Here To Exchange Links" or "Exchange Links With Us". Your link should than lead to a page that explains how folks can sign up and join your reciprocal links program. Make up a name for your program, something like: "Join Our Friends List".  Than you set up a separate page where your reciprocal links will be listed. Your title on your page may say something like: "Our Friends". Make sure to put a link to your reciprocal links page on your home page.

Make it a point to join reciprocal link programs that carry a link to their reciprocal links page from their home page. Otherwise, it may be hard for surfers to find your link. Go to the sites that have reciprocal link programs and see how easy it is to get to their reciprocal links page. If it takes more than 3 clicks, it may not be worth exchanging links with them, except of course if the company is comparable to Dell or Microsoft!

Remember, the more links you have on other web sites the higher your traffic. Linking=Traffic!!

To find web sites to exchange links with:

1.Put an "Exchange Links With Us" link on your home page!

2.Be on the look out for web sites that are offering Reciprocal Links Programs on their site as you surf the Internet.

3.If you find a site that you think compliments yours, request to exchange links with the site's administrator or webmaster. Find their contact information, than drop them an e-mail.

Be sure to check out my reciprocal links page at: http://www.jobs-from-home.com/exchange.htm, to check out my exchange link program.

You may exchange links with web sites relating to your site, or even sites unrelated, because as I see it, you never know who may want to surf on to your site for more information.

Starting your own reciprocal links program is easy, and it is a terrific way for surfers to find out about your web site. And most of all, it is free.
