Starting a mobile day spa
As an affiliate with Mobile Day spa, you will receive marketing and operations support through Mobile Day spa as well as training, 24- hour telephone support, professional Web sites, all mobile spa supplies, documentation and many more support services. In return, you will be responsible for business development and strategic marketing in their local area, creating corporate and hotel accounts, developing strategic alliances with complementary professionals, including wedding planners and hotel concierges; and hiring their own estheticians, massage therapists and cosmetologists.

Like many successful professionals, Devika Mukherjee found relaxation by indulging herself with trips to the spa. But sometimes Mukherjee was so tired after a day of running her Internet-consulting business that she skipped her spa appointment because she couldn't stand the idea of driving there and then having to get dressed and drive home again later. If only the spa would come to her, she thought.
That idea led Mukherjee to create mobileSPA, the nation's first multi-location, full-service day spa to perform outcalls to homes, hotels and businesses. With seven mobileSPA locations on the East Coast, the company is now offering partnering opportunities in order to expand nationwide.
The services offered by mobileSPA include Swedish and sports massage; facials; seaweed body masks; anti-cellulite treatments; salt exfoliations; body wraps; sugar scrubs; reflexology; shiatsu; lymphatic drainage; hot-stone therapy; and a signature "Ultimate Stress Breaker" which includes body exfoliation, warm-mud oil wrap, a Shirodhara treatment and massage.
A large part of the company's business comes from bachelorette and corporate parties, and what Mukherjee calls "girls' night in," or spa parties held in someone's home.
"The appeal is that this is a way for women to relax after a stressful workweek, and a great way to bond with girlfriends," Mukherjee said. "At a day spa it is virtually impossible to be scheduled all at the same time.
"In this jet-set society, mobile day spas are a great way to have fun and relax with the people you like to spend time with," she added.
In exchange for $2,200, a mobileSPA partner receives materials and support including information about hiring independent contractors, Web site development, and all the products needed to start a mobileSPA. Most of mobileSPA's products - linens, sheets, and the draping needed for the wet treatments - are disposable, Mukherjee said.
