Move over Masters Open contenders, and big league golfers. Aaron McIlroy, South Africa’s Master of Mirth, is taking to the greens in his all-new, one-man, laugh-a-line stage comedy, The Golfer.

Co-written and directed by Steven Stead, McIlroy’s new show is set to send the ball whizzing into orbit with a series of sketches unveiling life on and off the course. First and last in the line-up is Aaron’s alter ego, Truscott Price, that motivational guru of The Loser fame. Truscott now makes a major comeback as a sports psychologist… and The Secret has nothing on him.

We also get to meet the archetypal golf widow, an expert in bedroom golf; the spandex-clad, fashionista, previewing his custom-made range for his A-list clientele; and the real-estate power pitcher with a hotline to the latest in politically correct golfing estates.

“The show’s all about living the dream”, says Aaron. “The mission is to promote the Reach for a Green Foundation, which works towards the emancipation of the working man..”

Aaron’s legions of fans from his previous shows (DOF, Abbamaniacs, Mr Personality, The Stand-up, Defending the Planet, The Magnificent 7) are strongly advised to book early for The Golfer. This premieres at the Heritage Theatre in Hillcrest from 2 September, and runs to 5 October.

------------------------------- About Aaron
He is one of South Africa's most popular entertainers, with a string of stage blockbusters under his belt.

These include The Loser, Mr Personality, My Cousin Brother, and his most recent one-man satire, The Stand-Up, a merciless foray into the business of generating laughs on stage. Aaron teamed with his wife and professional partner, actress Lisa Bobbert, in Macbob Productions' multi award-winning two-hander, Defending the Planet - the most recent of their popular collaborations that have included box office hits such as Abamaniacs among others. Aaron is notorious for getting his audiences' abs aching and tears of mirth rolling.

Director Susan Monteregge credits him for "single-handedly transforming theatre into an extreme sport."
