Stand by for super-charged duo Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert, back by popular demand in the return of their smash hit take on alien abductions. Yes, Macbob Productions stage comedy Defending The Planet is set for a run at Hillcrest's popular supper theatre venue, the Heritage Theatre from 16 January to 25 February. If you missed them in this fun show during its previous runs, be sure to catch the zaniest husband-and-wife couple in town in one of the funniest productions seen in ages (The Daily News). pic Artslink.co.za
You'll experience a close encounter of the third (or fourth or fifth) kind when Aaron and Lisa pool their formidable talent in one of their most hilarious musical comedy to date, written and directed by Sue Monteregge. The story focuses on a self-help group of victims of alien abductions, formed to examine these and other close encounters of various kinds.
Typical of McIlroy's and Bobbert
s unique comedic style, Defending The Planet discusses the trauma of victims who have been probed by aliens. By means of case scenarios, off-the-wall characters and an eclectic range of foot-stomping music, suggestions are made as to how one can deal with an invasion and how to avoid falling victim to these outlandish creatures.
Defending The Planet is a must for anyone who has ever wondered about extra-terrestrial activity and above all, enjoys an entertainment of music and laughter. Tickets, including dinner (starters and main course) and the show, cost R140 (Tuesday evening and Sunday midday) and R165 (Wednesday to Saturday). Dinner is served from 7pm and the show starts at 8.30pm (Sunday lunch from 12.30pm and show at 2pm). Book now on 031 765 4197.

Hanlie Koekemoer (durbs.kwazulunatal.com) from DURBS magazine says:
"I was lucky enough to see Lisa (my hero) and Aaron in this outlandish and outstanding show. With stellar performances from both Lisa and Aaron its absolutely no wonder why everyone has aching jaw muscles the next day!!! My friends were laughing so much their smiles extended from earlobe to earlobe! What a spoof this is! Filled to the brim with updated material that will make you hose yourself! I especially loved the rip off of "Where is the Love" and Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" complete with silly little trashy outfit dahlings!!! And, of course Dr Martine Bardot was mesmerising as ever! You cannot go wrong it is a magical evening - I recommend that you partake in the dinner at the Heritage it is well worth it! The meal that I had was excellent (lamb) and mouthwatering - the service outstanding and the wine prices were reasonable too! And of course the airconditioning is a total plus. Your cars are safe and sound too. Do not miss this show! There will be two special performances of the show at the Hilton College Theatre on the 03 and 04 March I think. Give them a call or visit their website on hiltoncollegetheatre.com. Thanks LISA and Aaron!"
