Ask anyone who's survived the moving experience. Hiring a moving company isn't something you can take lightly. You've heard the horror stories about broken TV screens, scuffs on the freshly painted walls, chips on the banister, gashes on the chair legs, grease-stained sofas and dirty footprints on the plush carpeting. It's tempting to get caught up in the dollar figure you receive from a moving company, but the ultimate determinant of your move is the level of customer service that moving company brings you. http://www.divinemoving.com
Once you have collected the needed materials, you're ready to start packing. The major rule of thumb in packing is to make sure everything in the box is packed tightly so there is nothing moving or shaking around inside it. Remember, loose items cause damage. Crumble paper up and fill the bottom of the box. Wrap all breakables up with paper or bubble wrap. Stand the items up (do not lay down) in the box creating a layer of items. Crumble paper on top of the layer of items. Then create another layer of items, making sure you have crumbled paper between each layer of items all the way to the top of the box, with crumbled paper on top of the last layer. Seal the boxes well.
Always pack in reverse order of density. Place heavier items toward the bottom of the box and lighter items toward the top or a separate box all together, please pack the heavier items (books, papers, photos) in smaller boxes.
Label the boxes where you want them in the new place, it will save you and us time at the new location.
Do not pack aerosol cans, matches, nail polish remover, paint, paint thinner, hair spray, gunpowder, fireworks, or anything else along these lines that may be flammable. Any liquid cleaning supplies avoid packing as well, it is possible for them to leak and cause damage to other items

Especially in a big city like New York, there are many movers who are prepared to take last minute clients. They know that people run into all sorts of personal problems which can make them want to move as soon as possible. An unexpected problem in a relationship or with a roommate is terrible to deal with, but if you want or need to get out, you can find a mover who will get you out the very next day. You should never stay someplace you feel unsafe, so it's reassuring to realize there are movers who can help you leave immediately
The dream job of many students in college today will take them to Manhattan. New York City is the premier destination for both seasoned workers and new recruits in business and the arts. Landing the coveted job is the most difficult part about getting there, but it is far from the last step.
Well in advance of moving to Manhattan, you should have a lease on an apartment. If you are coming straight from college, maybe for a summer internship, you might not have that much furniture or that many boxes to move into your new apartment. If you had roots somewhere else and are moving to Manhattan, however, you will probably require professional movers.
