Kids love to fish ... but first you have to be willing to ask them, be willing to show them, and then be willing (and patient enough) to teach them.

• It is something that gets them outdoors into the fresh air instead of the stale air we breath indoors;
• It is something to get them out from in front of the computer playing games or the television watch cartoons;
• It is something that teaches them about conservation, the environment, and how it is so precious and important to all of us;
• It is something that every child can equally compete in, no matter how old or young, how tall or short, whether they are girls or boys;
• It is something for the family to dine on together that is so much healthier than eating out at a fast food restaurant;
• It is something for the family to do together which bring everyone closer, creating a more considerate, loving family;
• It is something different to do on your next vacation than the usual same ol' thing of going to the beach, or going to Disney in Orlando (or at least you could add it to that);
• It is something less expensive than most theme parks, and there are no height restrictions on this ride!;
• It is something that they will remember for a lifetime, and hopefully continue doing once they become adults;
• It is something that they will teach their children; thereby keeping the chain of conservation and environmental awareness going.

Just look at the faces on some of these kids we have had out fishing and try to tell me that they're not having fun!

You know the old saying ... give a man a fish and he will eat for a day ... teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.

Well, the same goes for our kids ... and most kids that really get involved with fishing DO NOT get involved with drugs, are less likely to get in trouble with the law, and generally do better in school. Try to do your part as a parent, grandparent, big brother, big sister, or even just ass a friend and get today's kids involved in the sport of fishing.

It is probably one of the least expensive hobbies to get started. You do'nt even need a boat because there are plenty of places where you can fish from the bank. A lot of people don't realize this, but if there is a body of water that keeps water in it all year around then, more than likely, there will be fish in it. All you need is a rod, reel, fishing line and a lure ... add water (hopefully with some fish in it) and you've got the perfect recipe for FUN!

You never know ... you might just find out that you DO have something in common with your kids ... a love for FISHING!!!
