Abu Grahib and the Leftist Agenda
The New York Times, Ted kennedy, and the left in general like seeing the Iraq prison abuse story on the front page, and they'll say anything to keep it there until after the November election.

Ever since the revelations of prisoner abuse at the Abu Grahib prison in Iraq emerged, we have witnessed the most outrageous statements yet to emanate from the so called “mainstream" media, Democrats, and leftists in general. The cacophony of shrill pronouncements has attained new heights in both blatant partisanship and out and out anti-Americanism.
TheNew York Times has been in rare form, even by the “Old Gray Lady's" standards. Of course in recent years, the NYT has been more closely resembling the “Senile Old Lady", but during the past couple of weeks she appears to be experiencing full scale dementia - publishing headlines absolutely frothing with all the self-righteous, indignation one would expect from one's forgetful great-aunt Margaret, who for several years now has been engaging the nursing home's staff daily with one-sided conversations in which she proclaims, wrongly but insistently, that Ed McMahon's “letter" to her, has caused millions to be deposited to her bank account.
A quick perusal today of the Time's headlines finds they are filled yet again with articles intent on portraying our leaders, soldiers and our overall efforts in Iraq, to be the work of the worst evil ever to inflict the planet. Saddam Hussein and Osama are mere choir boys compared to George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld, if one were to blindly accept the daily barrage of politically driven headlines found there.
Apparently some do believe that leashes on prisoners is worse, or at the very least, on an equal par with beheadings. Remarks made by some liberals that I hear, both in person, and on message boards (the CHCH Forum included) seem to reflect a peculiar disconnect with reality. While every reasonable person believes that what went on in that Iraqi prison is wrong, and that the guilty should be investigated and punished, no reasonable person would equate what happened, with the actions of terrorists who fly airplanes into tall buildings, blow up buses with children, or saw off another human being's head with a dull knife. The looniest of the loony of course, are found on the Democrat Underground forums. The insanity found there would be funny if wasn't for the fact that some of those folks actually believe what they post.
Finally there is the reaction from some Democrats, who evidently are willing to sacrifice the nation's honor in order to make political hay. One prominent Democrat exception to this is Senator Joe Lieberman who, to his credit, wrote an article that recently appeared in the Wall Street Journal, distancing himself from the recent partisan wrangling. While decrying the abuses uncovered at Abu Grahib, Lieberman also made his position very clear regarding American resolve:
“We cannot allow the prison scandal in Iraq to diminish our own American sense of national honor and purpose, or further erode support for our necessary cause in Iraq. American opponents of the war may try to do the latter, while foreign critics and enemies of the United States will try to do the former. The misdeeds of a few do not alter the character of our nation or of the honor of the many who serve in our defense—and the world's—every day."
Contrast that statement with that of Teddy Kennedy, who had this “brilliant" bit of insight:
“Shamefully, we now learn that Saddam's torture chambers reopened under new management: US management".
Teddy has gone too far making public statements virtually everyday for more than thirty years now, but that statement is the worst of the worst. By slandering our own military, who defend all of us--Teddy included, is of a magnitude so vile and contemptible that I'm having a hard time believing he actually said it. His brother, our nation's thirty-fifth commander in chief, and also a Navy veteran who after having his PT boat rammed by a Japanese destroyer, courageously led the survivors through dangerous waters to safety; must surely be rolling in his grave over what Teddy said. There of course will always be partisanship where politics are concerned, but there are certain lines with regard to our nation's defense that elected leaders should never cross--and until now, never have. Teddy Kennedy, the Chappaquiddick King, is in no position to be sanctimoniously moralizing anyone--let alone our men and women in uniform. Teddy has never been in possession of a moral compass, but I figured he was at least intelligent enough not to pull a stunt like this. I was wrong. The sheer audacity of Teddy Kennedy clearly knows no bounds, and his politically driven agenda of attempting to defeat President Bush, has now become so all-consuming, that it, and his bloated ego have become more important to him than even the nation's honor. Unfortunately, he seems to have many traveling companions on the left.
