Time saving tips for a busy world.

Go to Web Site

When we think of time we look at it as 24 hours in a day, 7 days to a week, 30-31 days are in a month and so on. Time is life’s currency. It’s something precious to us and spending it wisely brings fullness to our lives.

What’s the bottom for saving time in our busyness? Order, implementing a system of order or time management for our personal/professional lives will maximize productivity in all aspects of our life, not to mention a little free time for the things we enjoy.

Take a look at these 8 tips to help you save time.

Let’s Get Organized:
This is the one that really encompasses all the other tips. Pulling all these tips together and putting them into action will bring some organization to our busy worlds. A great rule of thumb about organization is: if you take something out - put it back where you got it . That keeps clutter down and makes more room for the task at hand. It also helps to retrieve a resource when needed quickly instead of searching the premises for the item. A real time saver!

Make A Plan:
Structuring a plan for your life may take some thought. Goals, dreams and vision come into play in this area and all must be considered. The scriptures in Habakkuk 2:2 speaks of writing the vision plainly for all to read. It goes on to say in verse 3 that it is for an appointed time. Part of the plan is for now and part is for the future so make every effort to include all that is in your heart. Destiny awaits.

Write To-Do-Lists:
Simplify your day. Everyday write or type a new list with things most important at the top. This will give you a visual of your productivity aspirations. If you sense a dread coming on after typing your list, re-evaluate your list and delegate anything that will help lift your burden. To-Do-Lists are a great way to accomplish things that must be done, in a prioritized manner.

Prioritize:
What is most important to you? That is what needs to be #1 in your focus. Pinpoint priorities which bring that system of order into play which is key in clearing up wasted time. I read the autobiography of Billy Graham [Just As I Am] and he said, "The only regret that I have is, not spending more time with his family." Sometimes we need to realize what is most important and make every effort to keep that #1.

Delegate:
There are times when our to-do-lists are so filled we wish that there were 2 of us in this world. This is a good indication that delegating is the big advantage here. Are you planning a trip abroad soon? Delegation of some of the planning to your travel agent will guarantee you more time for other things. Phone calls can be handed out to others as well as answering emails. We have many actives that accumulate on our to-do-lists, delegation of those activities can help to build stronger team players not to mention less stress.

Keep A Current Calendar:
Keep a calendar that is a current view of daily, weekly, monthly or even yearly activities. Calendar ‘s must be kept up–to-date because, they can be a lifesaver when it comes to balancing events, birthdays, and activities planned with family & friends. Don’t forget to jot down some fun in there somewhere. Now that you are saving time in your busy world FUN is high on the priority list!

Multi-task:
A great way to look at multi-tasking is; what happens from point A to point B. If you are doing some driving and have quite a lot of ground to cover, why not add a few errands. Think about the long waits at medical offices. Bring a book along, your studies or write a friend a letter to spend that waiting time more effectively. When I take my dog for a walk, I make a phone call or 2 and wear my exercise shoes in that 20-25 minutes, to use my time more effectively.

Invest In Broadband/DSL:
In this high tech world of ours what’s the biggest waste of our time? SLOW INTERNET CONNECTIONS! Am I right? This is an investment to consider when thinking about saving time. Look at it this way, downloading a Microsoft Windows update can take several hours on a dial-up connections. Broadband/DSL’s downloading time is a fraction of that. This is definitely an area of investment that can make our day more productive.

These 8 tips are just a few things that all of us can do to free up some time for the things we love. The world is a busy place. Making sure that we prioritize our life and realize what is important and what is just busyness will bring great satisfaction. We have one shot at this gift called life, let’s live it to our full potential and reach our destinies.
