OK, obviously I want you to check out www.auction-desk.com that has some great tools like eBay misspell search, eBay Blogger to name a couple.
It is important to put well laid out text and use different colours and sizes of text that grab the reader's attention - trust me as a powerseller on ebay it works. Also make the description as descriptive as possible, so there will be no confussion on what the item is, this helps with after sales as well as the selling point.
Use good picture backgrounds and animated pictures to capture the viewers interest.
If you can use html to organise the layout of your description, if you don't know any html don't worry there are plenty of resources on the internet and some very good ebooks, a good ebook store such as www.ebookyard.com would serve you well, and even provides a source of products to sell on online auctions as many come with resell rights.
The use of colour, text sizes, graphics and HTML can make a very professional looking page, even good enough to be posted as a stand-alone website in itself, if you ever decide to do so, a good cheap web host such as www.host.unique-business-solutions.com there are also lots of free hosting options available but usually carry advertising.
If you do have a website or have a membership in a photo website you can in html use links to point to more images of your item than the auction photo itself.
you can add text to appear when the mouse is moved over the image, which gives it a slightly more professional touch to your streamlined listing.
Not only does the additional pictures allow your potiential buyers to view more of the item / items but it's good practice to enhance the listing as much as possible.
I will be putting a template listing generator onto www.auction-desk.com that allows you to complete the majority of what's above and little more maybe, but this is very much so in the construction stages at this time, but do watch out for it.
If you have a website make sure you link to your auctions as you may just be sending the buyer there..... If you use eBay the eBlogger tool on www.auction-desk.com does just that, it shows all your items and pictures in a cool box, where a viewer can click an image of your items and be sent straight to the auction listing on ebay.
It is important on eBay in particular it is important for you to link to your ME pages, especially as you can promote your website and offer other services completely different from the auction listing itself.
I have found that customer service is an essential element of any listing, send an acknowledgement of payment, another email to say when the item has been dispatched.
If you think you have great idea or something to share to sellers or buyers, I very may well add it to www.auction-desk.com so visit the site and fill in the contact form and drop me a line.
