As I stated in a previous article (also below for your viewing) about the media, our nightmares are coming true. The media is out of control with unconfirmed or secret sources.
It was announced now that the flushing of the "Koran" was an untrue story and 4 people lost their lives in Afganistan and many more injured because of it, says the Washington Times Article. Not that the Washington Times has any room to gloat but...
The story is unconfirmed and the only related story is about a muslim himself flushing the pages of the Koran down the toilet to clog it up.
In a nutshell though, if you heard someone had flush torn out pages of the bible down the toilet would you go riot in the street? No! The people in other countries have to learn some civility. We think that when people rioted over Rodney King in LA, we had it bad and yes, it was a horifying thing to have happen here. However bad it was, Americans cannot relate to these people in other countries rioting at the drop of a hat for any reason. I don't speak for all Americans but I believe that most Americans cannot and never will understand why these people riot over anything. I understand that they have been deprived of freedom, but we have given them freedom, I understand they were starving, but we fed them, I understand that they were brutalized by the Taliban and we have stopped it. I understand that even a dog sometimes bites the hand that feeds them. What I cannot understand is why you would go into the streets of your commnunity and hurt and kill innocent people just to get your point across. What makes them believe that the only way things get fixed is by going out and killing other people.
Who is held acountable, surely the media holds the blame for many of these things, but especially this. A fabricaton to get the story, or the scoop before anyone else! When will they be held accountable. The people injured in this riot should be allowed to sue, for surely the Newsweek Rag is responsible. The media is in desperate need of reform. No more secret sources, no more vague references to "senior staff members" no more....haven't you had enough? I know that I have.
But what can we do?
The organizations of the media are only now starting to pay a price for their inaccuracies and lies, 1/2 truths and omissions. Lets hope this continues and that the public gets completely tired of this type of media and that it stops, without government intervention

While searching some blogs this morning I came across a very interesting site. I have longed to say "Thank You" to Mr. Blair for being our friend and standing tall beside America when the chips were down. He has courage and strength beyond my comprehension.
He stood stoic when his country supposedly was rising up against him. yet somehow, he was re-elected. So was his country really rising up against him or was the news media doing what they always do?Blowing things out of proportion!

We had the same issue here in America though, didn't we? Mr Bush was never going to get back into the White House because America hated him and so on.... I find the news media to be the biggest source of rumors and flat out lies. What they don't know they make up, and that's the truth. Or they type up, in some cases (LOL)!
Today's media is out of control, but doesn't it make you wonder though how much of this was happening before we became so technologically savvy. I often wonder how much wool was pulled over our eyes when I was was younger and couldn't find out the rest of the story. God knows only Paul Harvey did that! But did he, or was he privy to it? Think about what you know from when you were a child, something that made history or was big news at that time. How can we ever trust that what we thought we knew to be the truth, being told to us by our trusted world news correspondents was really the truth.
We can never get back the words we uttered to ourselves when we heard some important story about the Vietnam War, and how we looked at each other and wondered if our soldiers were really doing all the bad things they said they were.
Or when the men walked on the moon and we sat and watched in "awe" from our little desks in school. How about eggs, are they bad for you or good for you? Do we even know that yet? Should we follow the food pryamid or should we eat whatever the hell we want?
How about the Hollywood Ten where they really communists. Was Burl Ives a Communist? How about "Gramp-pa Walton" Will Geer? Was a cross-dresser (J. Edgar Hoover) really in charge of the FBI. Was there really only one shooter in the Kennedy Assasination? Did Joanie really love Chachie?
These are some of the many stories from over the years I wonder about. What was true? Follow the links and make up your own mind. I still don't know, and am not sure if I ever could know,proof positive. I do know that information is now on this superhighway and we get more of the truth than we ever did. Everyone seems to long for more information than ever before, we just don't believe blindly that the media is looking out for us... We know they are only looking out for ratings.
