Without links, the World Wide Web would be about as useful as SPAM (not the edible kind).
After all, links are what make the Web a web. You can add links (or hyperlinks, if you want to be formal about it) that connect your page to any other accessible site on the Net. Likewise, any other site can link back to you. All this can be done free will so to speak, but you do need permission to use a graphic image that is not yours due to Copyright Laws. Linking to (no approval needed without their graphics) and from other sites (with their approval, such as a link exchange) is not as hard as you would think. However, it does take a little time, an address book (or something similar) to write down all of the different user names and passwords you'll create, and patience, patience, patience.

Do links confuse you ? Don't understand HTML ? Want links anyway ? Read on then.

Patience is crucial. At first you'll be extremely aware of the time spent registering at this site and that site, submitting this information and that information, over and over again, but in time it will be as habit forming as breathing, no experience needed.

One of the key things to remember when it comes to linking is the simple fact that the sites you link to represent your site also. In other words; be aware of the content of the sites you link to so as to avoid any unpleasant e-mails. If your site is family themed you can be pretty sure that your visitors don't really want to see adult oriented links or ads.

With that in mind let's clear our heads. Take a deep breath and relax while slowly repeating after me ... "Use the force Luke, use the for... " ...ooops, wrong motivational speech.

Seriously, this linking stuff is not that difficult to master and well worth the effort, so
let's continue with this simple HTML link building tutorial.

When you want to build a link, the first thing you need is the URL (www. address) of the page you're linking to. (example: http : // www . example . com)

Then decide which word (or words) on your page will act as the link. This word (or words) will be the HOT SPOT, where people can click if they want to go somewhere else. Links are generally underlined, and appear on the browser in a different color than the rest of the text (the default color for links is blue, but this can be altered).

To create a link, you should sandwich your selected word(s) between the "anchor" tags:

(((-- THIS ARTICLE IS AVAILIABLE IN FULL AT AUCTIONGOAT.COM - THIS PROGRAM WON'T ALLOW HTML TEXT IN THE ARTICLE, SO IT IS A LITTLE HARD TO EXPLAIN IF I CAN'T SHOW IT ALSO --)))

That's it - nothing else to it. Remember to review the sites you link to for appropriate content and to get permission before you use graphic images that aren't yours. Now you're ready to link to your hearts content using the simple word building HTML steps I outlined above. Happy Linking.
