Established in the 1930's, Northland Outfitters is Nakina's first Outpost Camp. Located in Canada's "North of Superior Travel Region of Ontario", the camp was originally owned by Nakina pioneers, Lindsay Vanderbek and Emile Cote. Ike Mackie purchased Northland Outfitters in the late 1960's. Ike's family still runs the business today. Your hosts, Grant and Arlene Mackie, live year-round at Cordingley Lake. Our base camp and depot is located 3 miles north of the town of Nakina close to the public beach and campground on Cordingley Lake.

To get to Nakina, one could drive, fly or take a train. The Via Rail passenger train services the community on a tri-weekly basis. The local airport has a 3800 foot paved runway for those who prefer to fly to their destination. To drive to Nakina you would get onto Highway 11 travel to the Highway 584 junction and continue North through the town of Geraldton, Ontario. Canada.

Northland Outfitters has 3 fly in outpost locations for those who want to experience true solitude. Take a needed break from society, the hustle and bustle of life and relax by a campfire, “no phone ringing, or Tv to distract your attention from your surroundings. Go swimming, enjoy the benefits of a nice hot Sauna. Take a boat ride as the sun is setting, stop in the middle of the lake and listen to roar of silence. Take a hike on one of trails near the camp and take in the smells of the ever changing forest. Sit on the dock or shoreline and listen to the waves lapping at the shore.

The fishing and hunting are superb at Northland’s outpost locations because of their remoteness. You are in your own hot spot. Unlike urban areas there is no swarm of people all jiving for the same space. During the appropriate seasons hunt for moose, fish for Northern Pike, Walleye or Speckled Trout.

Northland Outfitters has a Bed and Breakfast facility located at our depot. Walk across the road get into a boat and go fishing for Bass and Northern Pike. Rent a boat or canoe and head off to one of the many remote lakes that dot the area. Paddle a canoe down one of the many rivers the pioneers used to access the remote lakes where they fished and hunted for food while maintaining their trap lines.
