Dream>Meaning: I DON'T LIKE SPIDERS AND SNAKES
Dreamer: Clair, 45, married, homemaker
Dream "My husband is not demanding, but in this dream, he tells me it is time to clean the spare bedroom. I didn't know we had a spare bedroom. After our children left, we moved into a smaller home.
"I go down the hallway and find a new door. When I open it, the room is full of spiderwebs. On the ceiling two spiders, a little one and a big one, are building a new web. I hate spiders and other crawly things and I want to scream. But the spiders stop their spinning. I know they are watching me. Then they begin to spin their web again. But this time the threads are golden! I just stand and watch them. I am happy."
Meaning: In waking life, we don't often like spiders. Men especially, dislike walking into spiderwebs. But spider-dreams have traditionally been an omen of success through industry and skill. Money. We told Clair: "You already feel secure and happy in your home. The spare bedroom indicates that you will get out of the house and find something to do with your 'spare' time. And what you do will lead to financial gain... Sweet dreams!"

Dreamer: George, 51, married, electrician
Dream "I am walking along a very wide boardwalk somewhere. I hear hammering and am aware that workers are still building the boardwalk up ahead. I see a wooden plank overhead, like a large sign over a highway. There is some white smoke coming from the plank. As I am watching, two holes appear in the plank, and a long, thin red finger comes out of each hole. It was these fingers that burned the holes through the wood. The fingers pull back. And I am aware that eyes are looking at me through the holes.
"I turn and run away. When I look back, the overhead plank is closer and the eyes are still watching me. I see that a man with a large belly is standing behind the plank. I woke up then, shaking, and very afraid. There is a message to this dream, I know it. I have had it 5 or 6 times."
Meaning: We felt that this was a prodromal dream...a dream that foretells an impending illness. We explained the meaning of different elements of his dream: the boardwalk, hammering, the overhead plank... Gave a brief explanation of how diagnostic dreams work. We worried about George and were relieved when we heard from him. An E-mail from our dreamer told us that he had been diagnosed with duodenal ulcers. His medical plan will allow him time off from work. Time he is going to use to work on an invention he has always wanted to do.
Dream>Meaning: THE WONDERFUL FLAME
Dreamer: Karen, 60, widow, receptionist
Dream "In my dream, I wake up to find I'm on the bus and I've missed my stop (on the way home from work). The bus is empty, except for the driver. The driver is a woman. I am surprised by this because there had been a thing on the news recently about the transit company not hiring women drivers. She doesn't appear any older than I am, but she has let her hair go silver.
"The bus pulls into the bus station. I haven't been here in years. I get off and walk into the station. Inside, it seems like a new building, more like the Medical Arts building where I had once applied for a job. I walk across the floor and go up a flight of stairs. I can hear my footsteps echoing through the building...
"Upstairs, I walk down a hallway with beautiful cherrywood doors on each side. One door is open and I go in... There are seats along each wall. They look something like pews in a church. I recognize most of the seated people as regulars I see on the bus. I sit down in one of the seats. We are all looking at a large glass bowl on a table at the front of the room. There is a wonderful flame burning in the bowl. There is no smoke from the flame, but we can all feel its warmth.
"This dream is very vivid. I can't forget it. (The doctor she works for) highly recommended Your Dream Team as being the best to explain it..."
