The publishing Business is like no other business on earth. It sells information. But not only that, it markets the way people view the world by offering them an objective analysis of the facts in a completely unadulterated fashion designed to inform, but not manipulate. The problem is it is a closed industry. It is difficult if not impiossable to break into the publishing business with any level of success without first getting to know someone who is already on the inside track. In all other industries the cream always rises to the top eventually, but not always the case in writing. Many writers go entire lifetimes unknown with brilliant and vibrant writing style that never graces the cover of a printed medium such as a magazine or a newspaper. That was before the industry was swpet off it's feet by the internet revolution.
All of the sudden writers found an indispincable tool in which they could use to get a foot hold on the ropes and begin climbing to the top. That avenue is often times called self publishing. Now I am not talking about subsidized publishing which is another beast entirely, I am talking about the truely free press the amature and the indie writers who have taken it upon themselves to begin publishing thier own newsletters and magazines. This industry revolutiion actually started about the same time the internet craze really started to kick in which was perfect timing because it served as an easy and cheap world stage in which the artist and writer could self publish thier own work relitivly freely, unregulated and as they saw fit.
The internet has put the wheel in the hands of the writer, and it shows. More and more writers are popping up all over the place now a days, and not just limited to the internet anymore, some of them are printing p[hysical papers that go out to the public as a finished media publication. With the invention of the modern printer and desktop publishing programs availiable for the home computer today putting out a professional looking newspaper is in the hands of just about anyone, and that is not all, but the papers can be easily and effectivly reproduced using a small to medium copy machine as well taking at least some of the work load off your home PC.
Copy Machines are relitivly inexpencive and usually easily attainiable at a local office supply store. They reproduce with surprising clarity making creating copies of your publication a little easier. Also self published books and novels are at an all time high because of some of the new digital technology in creating flyers, envelopes letters and more.
The first thing to find out is what if any niche in the business do you plan to exploit. An easy one is trivia, specifically one on telivisiion as well as The Subject Matter is wide open, and just about any niche' printed can survive and become a majpr player in the publishing field. There are two main objectives to publishing; Collecting dues and placing advertisments from payed sponsord
